This 1971 Chevrolet C20 was purchased new from Dailey Chevrolet Co., San Leandro, California on 12/17/70. The Chevy C10 has remained a one owner truck for 50 years and, according to the cars owner has never left Northern California. It is documented by a copy of the original Bill of Sale, factory build sheet, and California pink slip (title), and considerable other additional documentation dating back to the date of purchase. Also included is the original Owner’s Manual and Chevrolet New Vehicle Warranty folder containing the Protect-o-Plate in the one owners name, a Delco Energizer Service Certificate, and period aftermarket Chevrolet logo AM/FM Cassette Stereo Owner’s Manual all in the original Chevrolet plastic wrapping.
Power is from a 350c.i upgraded V8 that has been bored to 383c.i. The mileage on the truck shows 82,285 with 182,285 reported by the owner as the accurate mileage. However, the car has received a comprehensive restoration of both mechanical and cosmetic components. Due to the age of the truck, mileage is being reported as TMU (Total Miles Unknown) although based on the one owner’s information is believed to be accurate.

Completely rebuilt 350c.i. bored to .030 over with a stroker crank to represent a 383c.i.stroker. Internal components include Sealpower forged pistons, 9.25 compression ratio, Speed Prop double moly rings, 5.7” rods, all components balanced. 2.02 heads, 71cc Chamber ported heads, Pro3-anfgle valve seats, hardened exhaust seats, and 264 degree Competition Cam with heavy duty chain drive. Aluminum Edelbrock Performer, 180 degree intake manifold, Quadrajet 715cfm carburetor, MSD electronic ignition. All new internal parts including new oil pan & oil pump, water pump, and other parts. Engine professionally built by Hoffman machine, Richmond, CA Engine is smog legal although now exempt and fitted with headers, dual exhaust and cross over balance tube. Installed at 74,280 miles, approximately 9K miles ago.
At 74,280 miles, stock transmission was replaced with a 4-speed 883 Chrysler New Process floor mounted 4-speed sourced from a 1969 Roadrunner and completely rebuilt by J. Rothchild with 2.66 low gear. New, not rebuilt 12” diaphragm clutch and disc with heavy duty throw-out bearings and linkage.
Rebuilt braking system including disc front brakes, replacement master cylinder, and proportioning valve @ 174,280 miles.
All new steering gear, tie rods, ball joints, a-arm bushings, “Timkin” wheels bearings – 172K miles
New “Modine” radiator, 195 degree thermostat (runs cool) – 172K miles
Balanced & straightened by “Friction Materials”, San Jose, CAQ with 2 new “Spicer” cross and roller universal joints – 172K miles
All new components including 3.40 gears, posi-traction, new axles, “Timkin” bearings, Completed by California Differential Co – Running “Red Line” synthetic lube. Front & rear heavy duty sway bars added.
BODY & PAINT
California truck, never damaged, rusted or abused with all original panels. The C10 received a high quality trim removed re-spray in factory original green metallic paint. Truck bed removed and completely prepped inside and out. Cab high “Snug Top” added shortly after delivery. New chrome bumpers added front & rear, new rubber door seals, door sash seals, and window seals.
The cabin is trimmed in factory correct olive vinyl with black rubber floor mats. The C10 has a full complement of factory correct gauges including a tachometer, temperature gauge, ammeter, oil pressure and added vacuum gauge. A Chevrolet logo cassette radio has been added along with speakers in the doors. The original sticker shows the options when the truck was delivered new to its current and only owner. ~83k miles are shown on the 5-digit odometer with the actual mileage being reported by the trucks one owner as 183K miles.
Aftermarket 15” x 7” aluminum wheels wear a set of older Goodyear white letter tires that show excellent tread but are over 20 years old, and should be replaced.
The truck is fitted with a receiver hitch and electric trailer brake that are functional.
