This 1992 Acura NSX is part of a collection that Classic Cars Ltd. has been asked to represent on behalf of a prominent Indy 500 winning race team owner. The Berlina Black (NH-547), aluminum bodied NSX with black interior (E) was one of 1,271 produced for the model year.
The car was delivered to Hopkins Acura and purchased by the original owner on 4/21/92 as documented by the entry in the maintenance booklet. The current owner acquired the car on 7/23/94 from nearby Smythe European with the original sales contract documenting the sale and shown in the listing. In 2001, when the car had under 25K miles, the owner added numerous modifications including a CARB (California Air Resources Board) certified Comptech supercharger, headers, exhaust system and airbox which resulted in dyno results of 395hp/277lb.ft. torque with 6lbs of boost. Additional upgrades included a Powergrip clutch set, adjustable Koni shock absorbers, upgraded toe-link set, replacement front and rear C/D rotors, upgraded brakes (“hot” street pads), stainless steel brake lines, catalytic converters and Techno silver alloy wheels. The total cost of the upgrades completed by Comptech in 2001 was over $27,000. Tires are Michelin Pilot Sport in 18” rear & 17” front and tires in 275/35/ZR 18” (rear) with date codes 02/14, and 205/45/ZR 17” (front) with date codes 45/15.
The aluminum body is finished in black and features pop-up headlights, front and rear spoilers, quarter panel air vents, and dual exhaust outlets. Originally powered by a 3.0-liter DOHC V6, mid-mounted engine featuring VTEC variable valve timing and was factory rated at 270 horsepower and 210 lb-ft of torque. paired with a five-speed manual transaxle with a limited-slip differential, twin-disc clutch, torque control differential, independent front and rear aluminum double wishbone suspension, 4-wheel ABS anti-lock brakes, and variable ratio rack and pinion steering.
The interior features power-adjustable seats trimmed in black leather along with matching carpets and a black dashboard, center console, and door panels. Equipment includes cruise control, power windows and locks, automatic climate control, NSX-branded floor mats, an aftermarket Kenwood head unit and a trunk-mounted CD changer. The leather-wrapped steering wheel fronts a 180-mph speedometer, a tachometer with an 8k-rpm redline, and auxiliary gauges. The six-digit odometer shows under 36K miles, approximately 32K of which were added under current ownership.
At 14K miles, the front bumper cover was repainted due to minor road rash and in 1995, the NSX sustained a rear impact resulting in damage to the exhaust system, rear bumper/body and deck lid. The owner felt the damage was minor enough to retain the car and subsequently invested over $27K in mechanical upgrades including the Comptech supercharger, suspension modifications, wheels & tires and brakes. Neither the front bumper cover nor rear incident are noted on the Carfax report. The car retains its original paint (except where mentioned above).
Ongoing maintenance is documented by extensive service/maintenance receipts shown in the listing that include service based on time vs. mileage due to the cars limited use, especially during the past 7 years with the car accumulating fewer than 4K miles. Regular maintenance included complete oil services, brake fluid changes, battery replacements, coolant brake and clutch fluid changes, smog inspections (always passed), and a major service. An oil service was completed within the past 50 miles and 30 days along with a smog check and independent safety inspection.
The Carfax report lists no accidents or other damage and shows the cars entire history in California. Included in the sale is the clear California title in the owner’s name, original tools and spare, Comptech brochures, original owner’s manual, Dyno results and other documents, and two keys.
This NSX shows 35,835 miles and is now offered with service records since 2013, a clean Carfax report, and a clean California title in the seller’s name.
