This 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS convertible has been owned long-time enthusiast as part of his collection of American muscle cars since 2005.  The Chevelle was used minimally due to his ownership of several high-performance cars, stored indoors, and professionally maintained.

The car is finished in Cherry red over a unique red vinyl interior and a black power convertible top.  The owner reports that the car is powered by a 454c.i. V8 paired with a TH400 4-speed automatic transmission. Equipment includes a like new black convertible top, 14″ SS-style wheels, power brakes, power steering, power windows, an AM/FM radio, and a Posi-traction rear differential(?). This Chevelle is now offered by the seller on consignment from a long-time customer with a clean Minnesota title.

The exterior paint is in excellent condition with body panel gaps that reflect a high-quality restoration.  The Chevelle features SS trim, functional cowl induction, black hood and trunk stripes, hood pins, and “454” fender emblems.   The car was restored to stock configuration with considerable attention to detail and beautiful exterior trim, chrome, and emblems.

14″ SS-style wheels include polished trim rings and Firehawk Indy 500 tires. This car is equipped with power steering, power brakes, power windows.  Braking is from power-assisted front discs and rear drums.

The cabin features red bucket seats along with matching door panels with “SS” logos, red carpet with matching floor mats, and a contrasting black dashboard.  Front seat belts provide safety for driver & passenger and a set of rear belts are included but not installed.  Equipment includes a factory AM radio that is not functional.  Close inspection of the door jambs with proper labels, and other interior details seen in the photos also support the high level of the restoration of this Chevelle.

The stock, two-spoke steering wheel features an SS horn pad and frames a 7k-rpm tachometer, a 120-mph speedometer, a non-working analog clock, and gauges for fuel level, coolant temperature, and oil pressure. The five-digit odometer shows 51,450 miles, though total mileage is unknown.

The engine compartment shows extremely well and was restored to original appearance.  Proper stickers adorn the air cleaner showing “454 / 360hp” along with coolant and other labels.  The cowl induction is functional and the Chevelle has the proper chrome valve covers, stock but jet coated manifolds, and dual exhaust.  There is no indication of front-end damage with the core support and other front end structural components being straight and solid.  The cleanliness of the engine bay further supports the care that the car has received.

The trunk is finished in proper splatter paint, complete with a period spare tire and cover, jack, and trunk liner.  Details include the correct jack sticker on the underside of the trunk and new rubber trim.

The undercarriage can be seen in the extensive photos and is also free from damage.  While records of the restoration did not accompany the car, an independent inspection confirms the high quality with the car passing the California safety inspection within the past 60 days.  Photographs of the key components are provided and based on the information provided by the cars owner, the Chevelle is being offered as a having a non-matching engine.

Recent ongoing maintenance includes a new fuel tank & gas gauge, new battery, and oil service.
