Condition
This BMW represents a two owner, very well cared for/maintained, lifelong California car finished in desirable Black Sapphire Metallic with black leather interior. The paint is in excellent condition throughout with minor imperfections consistent with mileage but not detracting from the overall appearance of the car. Typical scrapes are noted on the underside of the front spoiler that can be seen in the undercarriage photos. The front and rear lenses and exterior body trim are in excellent cosmetic condition. Other badging and trim is equally good. There are no chips or scratches in the windshield, rear, or side glass. All openings function as new, with excellent closure and proper panel gaps. The wheels are in good condition with curb rash one wheel while the other three are excellent wearing correctly sized Bridgestone tires in size 245/40/19 front and 275/35/19 in the rear with date codes of 2009.
Inside the car, the supple, factory fresh black leather interior exhibits beautiful finishes throughout showing only minimal evidence of use and fine patina to the seating surfaces. All interior components have been beautifully maintained including smooth and supple leather trimmed seats, no-crack dash, and console materials, all of which form a beautifully cohesive cockpit with modern amenities and state of the art BMW technology. The seats are visually attractive and offer firm support for a range of driving conditions including proper side bolstering for more spirited driving. The dashboard retains iconic analog dial faces for speedometer and tachometer with digital readouts for some systems while allowing a purposeful focus on the large-dial speedometer and tachometer. The speedometer sweeps a full 160mph. The trunk compartment is quite spacious and in excellent cosmetic condition.
Under the hood, the 4.4 liter V8 engine has been mechanically and cosmetically preserved, further supporting the original miles shown on the odometer. Factory components, manufacturers engine compartment labels, and hardware remain as new. The engine compartment remains in 100% stock configuration with the exception of the replacement items fitted during tune-ups and oil services. The undercarriage further supports the documented low miles showing no significant road marks on the factory aerodynamic chassis pans and properly maintained components, suspension castings and various exposed components revealed in the underside are further in excellent condition, with clean and fresh appearance.
Driving the BMW 645CI is a delight with the car offering a great blend of sportiness and Grand Touring feel. Acceleration comes on strong when summoned and nimble controls offer ease of use. The 645CI is equally capable of docile city driving and premium open-road performance excitement. Refreshing climate controls, excellent sound system, and easy to use comfort conveniences can easily compete with any of the top luxury sedans. However, once invited to engage in performance driving, the 645CI offers strong acceleration and power coupled with confident cornering and braking. The BMW comes with factory manuals and booklets with factory leather pouch, and two keys.
History
The second generation of the BMW 6 Series consists of the BMW E63 (coupe version) and BMW E64 (convertible version) grand tourers. Unveiled at the 2003 Frankfurt Auto Show in 2003, the car was produced in relatively limited numbers with coupe production of 12,332 in 2004. The E63/E64 generation was produced by BMW from 2003 to 2010 and is often collectively referred to as the E63.
The exterior was designed by Adrian van Hooydonk, based on the 1999 BMW Z9 concept car designed by the then BMW Design Chief Chris Bangle. The E63 uses a shortened version of the E60 5 Series chassis and subsequently shares many features. The rear styling, first seen on the E65 7 Series, was nicknamed “Bangle Butt” by critics. BMW described the styling philosophy as “flame surfacing”, where concave and convex shapes meet to create sharp edges.
To reduce weight, the doors and bonnet are made of aluminum, and the boot and front wings are made of carbon-reinforced plastic. The curb weight of the coupe is 3,280 lbs.
Power is provided by a 4.4 liter N62 V8 with 329 hp at 6,100rpm and 332 lb. ft. of torque mated to a 6-speed SMG automatic or a 6-speed manual transmission.
