HISTORY

This GTI was purchased new with 76 miles at the local VW dealer, Dirito Brothers, by a friend and customer of Classic Cars Ltd. and has spent its entire life in Northern California.  Used almost exclusively on sunny California days, the car is the nicest pre-owned GTI that we have seen.  Not only has the car received the recommended VW maintenance, but the benefit of service that far exceeds the factory suggestions. At 1,000 miles, the owner converted the oil to Liquimoly Leichtlaufen Synthetic and completed oil and filter changes every 4,000 miles.  To say this car has been well maintained both cosmetically and mechanically, would be an understatement.  In addition to ongoing documented maintenance, the car has been extremely well maintained cosmetically including exclusive hand washing, garaged when not in use, and devoid of “bumper rash” from exposure due to parallel parking.  Having traveled less than 6,000 miles per year, the car truly shows “As-New.” Frankly, it would be difficult to find a California “born & raised,” desirable color, low mileage GTI in this condition.

This car truly drives and looks like a virtually new GTI (perhaps even better due to the enhancements!).  Cosmetically the car is excellent and devoid of door dings, damage, front or rash scratches / “bumper rash” and any other imperfections that detract from its overall high quality appearance.  The old adage “A photo is worth a thousand words” certainly applies in this instance.  The interior is immaculate.  THe cabin has never been smoked in and the car has been a “one owner/owner drive” car with the passenger and rear seats supportive of minimal if any use.  The driver’s seat does not show any wear on the bolster or in any other area.  As expected, the electrical system is fully functional and there are no warning lights, or codes shown int he computer. Even the engine compartment is immaculate and, it is important to note that the car was not “prepared” for sale but kept in this condition by its meticulous owner at all times.

The GTI will be delivered to its new owner with the following:

The GTI included a host of original equipment and was fitted with the desirable DSG 6-Speed automatic transmission w/ Tiptronic.  While the options on the “Sport’ are too lengthy to list, the following standard features are worth noting:

UPGRADES / IMPROVEMENTS

In addition to the options on the GTI Sport, this example has received the benefit of some subtle upgrades to enhance if rom a mechanical and cosmetic perspective.  The improvements are tasteful and not obvious to the non-enthusiast.  However, they add great touches to the car, give it a wonderful, pleasing but not offensive exhaust note, and improve the drivability and appearance of the GTI.

ROAD TEST SUMMARY

Perhaps Autobytel summed it up best in their road test of the 2017 GTI when they said: “The GTI is the hot-hatch benchmark; VW created the segment in 1976, and with each successive generation the original promise of front-wheel-drive excitement has been finely honed”  The went on to say: “Entry-spec GTI’s develop 210 hp and 258 lb.-ft. of torque from a 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine. Sport, SE, and Autobahn versions gain an additional 10 hp but maintain the torque figure. More potent GTI models make the sprint to 60 mph in as little as 5.5 seconds (depending on transmission) and are electronically limited to 130 mph. Despite a whisper of turbo lag, the GTI is impressively quick from any rolling speed.”  Finally, “That stated, the GTI perfectly manages torque steer, and it carves corners better than some purpose-built sports cars. It also has plenty of stopping power.”
